When creating an official letterhead, Microsoft Word is the easiest application to use. First you need to plan how you want your official letterhead to look. Since a letterhead gives a quick overview of the company, it should not contain a lot of information. Details that are mostly included in a letterhead are * Company Name * Company Logo * The company Vision * Company Mission * Contact Address (Physical address, email, telephone, fax and website) * A brief mention of the company’s core business It is not necessary that a letterhead should include all the above details. People choose to have all or some that a very necessary for instance name, logo and address omitting the rest. Although there are other applications that you can use to create a letterhead like Adobe Page Maker or MS Publisher, Word still remains the most popular because it is the easiest to work with. To create a letterhead you need to open a new Word document. The simplest way to have a letterhead is by inserting logos in letterhead as components of the header or footer. The following are the steps to help you create your letterhead. I. First prepare the picture that will be used as a logo. If it needs resizing or cropping do it at this stage. You can also add color if you like. To do this you can view the properties of your picture by right-clicking on it and choosing Picture Properties option. When you are through with editing your picture save it and give it a JPG or JPEG extension. II. While in the new document select View then go to Header and Footer option. Note this applies if you are using Office 98, 2000, 2003 and XP. In the newer versions of MS Office 2007 and Office 2010, you can see this option by choosing Insert from the Menu bar and selecting the Header or Footer options. III. Next click the Insert option from the Menu bar and choose Picture option then From File. This will open a dialogue box which allows you to select the location where you saved your picture. IV. From there you can align the picture to the most suitable location on the header. Save your Word letterhead using a suitable name.
